What God DOES For Me

On September 17, 2018 God did something amazing for me. After 31 years of living a self-deceptive lie, He saved me from my SELF and from my sin (Read that story here). Now, since I truly yielded to Him in repentance and faith, God continues to do many great things for me every day that keep me continuously in His presence.
In Psalm 139:23-24 David prays, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Like David, my soul finds great joy in the work of God by which He searches me and tries me, renewing me every day to a right relationship with Him. Likewise, He gives me peace, joy and stability through understanding the truth that He knows me, and that He leads me “in the way everlasting.”
When God searches me, He opens my heart and mind to the things I need to know about myself, and the course corrections I need to make. Like the “Great Physician” that He is, God examines me. Not only daily, but moment by moment He brings me face to face with the hard truths about myself, then points me with grace and love to the Cross.
When God tries me, He is forcing me to put into practice that which I claim to believe. He tests me in order to prove my faith and commitment to His word. He puts me in situations that are designed to show me those hard truths about myself that are hardest for me to swallow. Again, His grace and love always point me back to my Saviour.
God is able to do these things because He knows me. He knows me better than I know myself. He knows my wicked and deceitful heart, even when it is at its most wicked. He knows my thoughts, even before I know them, when they are yet but a spark in my mind. Knowing me in this way is what makes God uniquely qualified to lead me.
God can lead me in HIS way before I know why, and even before I know of my need to go a certain way. He leads me in “the way everlasting,” though I know nothing of that way, and He leads me in the paths of righteousness, even those that are His alone to comprehend.
What God did for me in saving my soul gave me life everlasting. But what God DOES for me daily gives me the peace of God that passes all understanding. I am thankful for the God that searches me and examines me. I appreciate the God that tries me, and exercises my faith. I want to know my God, as I am fully known by Him, and I seek to be led by the God who knows the best way, because His ways are perfect.
